As a ceramic artist I focus on function and surface. I try to find a unique balance between these elements, while maintaining function as the priority.

I enjoy the organic nature of clay. My work is mostly made of porcelain. All of my pottery is handmade and starts on the potters wheel. Some of the forms are altered while some remain round.

I am inspired by ancient pottery as well as current trends. I enjoy looking at ornamentation found in architecture and textiles. I am drawn to these designs as well as to nature.

I received a BFA from Drake University in Printmaking in 1979 and began working in clay several years later after taking classes at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts and Northern Clay Center.

I hope that my pots will find a special place in the homes and hearts of those who use them.
